Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop trying to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. Across numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and access a market to purchase outfits for your poop character.

Plan your actions carefully, as a wrong move means starting over. Bounce on bubbles to propel the poop to new heights, traverse disappearing ledges, and touch buttons to open hidden paths. Gather UN-KOINS and use them on tougher levels where things intensifies.

In terms of design, the game boasts vibrant environments and a killer music score. The simple visual style featuring shifting basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's tough to name other games where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content is present extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, like winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on computers on November 19.
